Majority of the people focus on generating traffic to their site without providing quality content.Therefore,it is important not to over-focus on generating traffic.
Massive Traffic=Increased Sales
There are a lot of people believed that their online success depended only visitors they are are able to attract to their website. This is a huge misconception that people equated traffic with sales. They over focused on bringing lots of people to their site, without doing the necessary work to ensure that the visitors will be very satisfied with the products.
Traffic has indeed gone up but they ended up wasting valuable time, money and effort because they did not manage to give what the visitors wants. All they did was to bring them to the site without providing products that will really satisfy the customers.
Hence interested visitors, prospects or potential customers felt disappointed and left the site without remembering your website. This defeats the purpose of traffic generation right? The main intention is to convert visitors into customers.
Content Is King
There is a popular saying in the online industry "Content Is King". It is very obvious but many people will tend to forget this principle when they are over focused in rushing visitors to buy products from them.
Let me give you a simple example. Would you open an open house without deciding on special sales promotions, lining up entertainment, creating visual appeal or ordering refreshments? While you will definitely invite people to the website but don't do if you are not ready to provide your best quality content.
Goal of Conversion
Traffic conversion is a committed process for building up relationships and with your targeted audience. It helps the visitors to know and trust you. When done correctly, it provides the opportunity for online marketers to gain loyalty, fame and profitable customers.
By having the fame, people will use "word of mouth" technique to market you to their peers. For some, the conversion will be a straight and speedy way leading directly to a sale but the vast majority must be prepared to take a slower route.
In order to achieve this, you will need to create an online environment that will ensure your visitor feels welcomed in a warm and sincere way. This makes it easy for them to take action and this is similar to inviting people to your home. You will need to greet them with a smile, offer those drinks and allow them to have a seat.
You shouldn't expect a sale during the first visit as trust and confidence needs time to be built. For example, you will not propose marriage during the first date right? Sounds pretty ridiculous, didn't it? But as I said then, it's not dissimilar from asking your online visitors to buy on their first visit.
Healthy relations of all kinds are built gradually and it's not different in the online world. It's important to get to know your visitors, build trust, and allow them to warm up to you before asking for a sale.However,most e-commerce entrepreneurs do just the opposite and insist upon pressuring their prospects into buying instantly.
