Traffic analysis Analyzing web traffic statistics can be a valuable tool for a variety of reasons. But before you can make full use of this tool, you must understand how to interpret the data. Most web hosting companies will provide basic information on the web traffic information and must therefore be interpreted appropriate for use. However, the data you receives from the host company can be overwhelming, if you do not understand how it applies to your particular business and website.
Start by examining the most basic data - such as the average visitors to the site daily, weekly and monthly basis. These figures are the most accurate measure of your site operation. It would seem that the more traffic you see recorded, you assume your site is doing well, but it is not accurate perception. You need to watch the behavior of your visitors as they come to your website to accurately measure the effectiveness of your site.
It is often a great misconception about what is generally known as "hits" and what is really effective, quality traffic to your website. Hits simply means the number of information request receive on the application server. For example, if your home page has 15 graphics on it, the server records this as 15 hits, when in reality we are talking about a single user control of a single page of your site. As you can see, hits are not useful for analyzing traffic to your website. The more visitors to your website, your interpretation will be more accurate. More traffic to your site, the more precise your analysis of your visitor behavior. Less number of visitors, plus some unusual visitors may distort the analysis.
The goal is to use the web traffic statistics to discover how well or poorly your site is working for your visitors. One way to determine this, is to know how long on average, visitors spend on your site. If time past is relatively brief, it usually indicates an underlying problem. Thus, the challenge is to find what is the problem. It could be that your keywords are targeting the wrong type of visitors to your site, or that the graphics confusing or intimidating, causing the visitor to leave quickly.
Using how much time your visitors spent on your site to identify specific problems and rectify accordingly. After solving these problems, continue to use time spent as a measure, how effective is the solution. In addition, the statistics of web traffic will help you determine effective and ineffective areas of your site. If a page that seems important, but visitors exit rapidly, that page needs attention. You may consider improving the link to this page, making the link more visible and attractive, or to improve the appearance of the page, or improve the navigation so that your visitors obtain the necessary information from that page easily.
On the other hand, if your visitors are spending much time in the pages that seem less important, you can consider moving your sales copy and marketing focus over this page. These statistics will reveal vital information on the effectiveness of individual pages and habits of visitors and motivation. Such essential information can improve the success of your Internet marketing campaign.
Once you have analyzed the statistics of your visitors, it is time to turn to your keywords and phrases that are directing a specific type of visitor to your site. The more targeted the visitor - that find what they want on your site, they will be willing to fill out your contact form or make a purchase. Keywords are vital to bring quality visitors to your site.
