Content Management System or CMS is a wonderful application for Web Designing and managing workflows in a collaborative environment. The advanced administration of CMS’s allows many people to contribute and update content in the Web pages with the help of access control. Having a database at the backend helps to store and retrieve data conveniently. Unlimited pages can be added and updating web pages too have become easier as a single change can reflect the update in all the pages. Content updations are much simpler and the communication between the users is also very convenient.
There are a lot of CMS’s that have acquired top positions in the internet and Web Design world. The first few that we can discuss about are Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress. These are the most well known and frequently used CMS’s across the world. However, you will have to do a research to find out which one will suit your requirement better.
Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress are the most widely used CMS’s by different web designing companies but it is important to find out which one of these is easier to implement and has better functionalities. Wordpress as of now is considered the favorite for blogging sites, Drupal is more useful for networking and community sites but Joomla on the other hand is used for multiple purposes. But as we said all three have their own drawbacks.
Wordpress is an excellent choice for blogging sites and to put your thoughts and imagination into picture. This is a basic Content management system and is currently used by 202 million websites. Wordpress is set up in such a way that it makes blogging a very simple process. It has many supportive featured and is a very developer friendly CMS.
Joomla is very user friendly CMS and provides the adeptness to publish web content. Some of the features of Joomla are RSS feeds, Cashing, Printable web pages, news flashes, search, blogs polls and language internationalization.
Joomla is extremely developer friendly and provided huge opportunity for customization and adding new features. This way a website built with Joomla looks much better and is very communicative with its users. Joomla is also able to manage a large community and in a short period of time it has grabbed quite a bit of the market. However, in terms of flexibility Joomla needs to step up as it is a bit behind when compared with Drupal or Wordpress.
Talking of Drupal, Drupal is usually used as a backend utility for many different web sites. Often sites mentioning questionnaires and FAQs and the ones meant for corporate viewing use Drupal. However, Drupal has the ability to incorporate features such as Handling and creating menus, RSS feeds, Internet forums, Single and multi use blogs, powerful template system and registering and maintaining user accounts.
Drupal is very developer friendly as it requires coding but is not liked by designers. Designers find it boring as it has very few options to offer. Some users of Drupal also complain about difficulty in accessing.
In the end it depends on the requirement and technological knowledge that will tell you which CMS would be better for your site.
